Oliver gave Bex a kiss once she got to the bedroom and let her go. He said he had some things to do. He said he needed a walk.
"Does this have anything to do with Nelson?" She wanted to know. Bex had a pretty good idea who he was now. She was glad he had the power tools, but really she didn't like him around even if he had been nice to her.
"No," He stared her right in the eye. She suppose he wouldn't lie.
"OK," she nodded. "You won't be gone that long, will you?"
"It shouldn't take long," he sighed. "Not if I can help it."
So she gave him just one more quick kiss for the road and then after he left she wished hadn't let him go.
Bex didn't know what she wanted. Really. She sat down on the beautiful bed and put hands over her eyes. Why did she feel so nervous? As if it were true. The worst was about to happen, and there was nothing she could do about it.
Was happiness just a fleeting thing?
She laid down then and wondered if she could possible go through with it. If she were pregnant, she'd want an abortion. Her brother wouldn't like that. What would Oliver think? It surly wouldn't be his.
It was her choice. That's what she would do. Then she thought of what her mother had said once when she was talking to the neighbor, "There is no perfect time for a baby. Just isn't."
Bex gritted her teeth.
She would have to go through with an abortion. She would. Best not to tell anyone. Just keep it to herself. No way would she let Dayton know. No way.
Bex closed her eyes. It was just wrong. Wrong. She knew it. She hugged the pillow next to her. She sensed a cramp then. Was this what it felt like to be in labor? Or was she starting her period?
